Bubbles
Newest painting, this will be going into the Middletown Exhibition on April 1st.

Again not trying to focus on representational or realism, or perfection...  looking for sketchiness, abstraction in the everyday, memories... most of my work is based on these pieces... thoughts, memories, and how we remember them. Some things fade, while others are clear and sometimes in the same memory you have both a faded rememberence while a part of it may be so uniquely vivid.  Since 1995 my work has had this underlying theme, regardless of the subject or content always underlying is this piece: a fine line of reality, memory and that which fades in time.

Mail Me Something - Co-Op Work

3 entries today... its been busy the last few weeks..... and I have had some catching up to do...

'Mail Me Something' is a Co-Op project, I just completed, each piece is a 4" x 6" painting. All Acrylic and Graphite on Paper. 3 have been sent off in the post today... and 3 more will follow for another 4 days (perfect to get rid of ALL of the christmas stamps I have - apparently overthought the christmas card list this year) but this is a great way to let those stamps move on into the world ....

Some of these started off as paint sketches for larger work (I tend to do that often) ... after completing some I will not be moving on to a larger version - thankfully I did not waste the time, canvas and paint, although I am rather drawn to the multiple paintings gathered together to make a larger one, thinking a series of these would be interesting to work on.

Here are all of the postcard paintings together - each are mailed separately and exhibited apart from the others:

Artists of Bristol Borough/ Spinetoli Exhibition

The collaborative exhibition of Artists of Bristol Borough and Spinetoli Italy, was an amazing event. Thank you to everyone who came out for the opening Friday, March 19th at the Library in Bristol Borough, to view the work and meet all of the artists. Thank you to the Artist of Bristol and Grundy Library as well for hosting the event.

We had an after party and exhibition at The Canal Works in Bristol Borough, a lot of my work was shown there, and again an amazing time. My son, Dylan had a chance to show his work in public for the first time, he was so excited and it made me realize what a natural communicator and artist he is, he showed everyone he could his work and talked to them about it, very cute. Here are some photos of my little man and his work (paintings on the table) at The Canal Works:

Spring is coming, thankfully
Spring is nearly upon us, I am feeling a little more colorful these days, been quite gray over the past 3 months, very much reflected in my paintings over that time period, muted colors and grayness abounding. The recent Sun painting is having a nice color infused affect on me, and the approach of the new season is also. Sketchy work with some vibrant new color below, still in tree mode this one is much more sketchy and abstract..... and color is off and not coming through correctly in the photo below, more of a pale orange and tortuoise green/ blue in reality... also strange how the camera is picking up certain brush strokes stronger than others. (maybe new camera time?) .. I guess you will just need to come out and see it in person sometime (assuming it gets shown outside of my home! I have to live with it for a little bit)

Spring moves in...

CBS Sun Art Library piece

“CBS Sunday Morning Television Show is a staple of society and loved by millions. It is an intellectual ‘slice of Americana’ encapsulating current events, ART, nature, everyday people and places. “

2010 CBS Sun Art Library Piece -

From CBS:

'About Our Sun Images
The sun images that appear between some of our segments come from a variety of sources. One face might peek out at a producer visiting a flea market, while another golden orb may be found staring stonily from an ancient Egyptian vase in a museum. Some of the images show up in the mail; some are produced by more local artists. The face in the CBS News Sunday Morning logo, along with some of the other sun images shown during the show, are inspired by an out-of-print book entitled The Sun in Art.

Our director keeps a file of images to choose from as he works on constructing the show each week. As many viewers have observed, the suns' faces often reflect moods and ideas expressed during the program.

Since we don't own the rights to many of the suns we use, it's not possible for us to publish any books, photographs, or other material representing them. Many of the images are so interesting and beautiful, viewers ask to see them collected to look at more carefully. But for now, our images remain as transient and temporary as real sunrises and sunsets, meant to be appreciated in the moment.'
