I'm excited to announce my upcoming exhibition at The Playmasters in Neshaminy State Park, alongside fellow artist Barbara Keogh. Running from May 2nd to May 23rd, 2010, this show is a culmination of my recent work exploring abstract forms and the interplay of light and shadow.

The series I'm presenting revolves around more than mere shapes; they're echoes of the natural world - bubbles in a stream, cells dividing, raindrops on a leaf, or the cross-section of a tree trunk telling its life story through its rings. As I paint, I find myself tapping into memories of walks in the woods, the changing seasons, and the emotions each cycle brings.

My piece "Dead of Winter," featured on the exhibition card, exemplifies this exploration. The dark circles clustered at the top evoke bare tree branches or perhaps seeds waiting in frozen soil. The drips beneath suggest movement - maybe melting snow or the first stirrings of sap in spring. It's a visual metaphor for transition, not just in nature, but in our lives and emotions too.

Throughout the series, I've played with the arrangement of these circular forms, sometimes letting them float like thoughts or memories, other times grounding them like roots or the solid presence of tree trunks. They dance across the canvas, much like our emotions ebb and flow through the seasons of our lives.

The limited palette of earthy tones speaks to the subtle beauty of nature's cycles - the rich browns of autumn leaves, the stark blacks and whites of winter branches against snow, the soft greens of early spring buds. These colors carry emotional weight too, reflecting the warmth of nostalgia or the coolness of reflection.

I invite you to join me in this exploration of nature's circles and our inner landscapes. The opening reception is on Friday, May 7th from 6-8 PM, with a closing reception on Friday, May 23rd from 12-2 PM. I look forward to sharing these pieces and hearing how they resonate with your own experiences of nature, memory, and emotion.
