For the "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder" exhibition, I wanted to challenge conventional notions of beauty. My piece, "She Peeks Through," is an exploration of vulnerability, intrigue, and the power of a single glance.

Using a combination of oil, acrylic, and graphite on paper, I created a close-up portrait that invites the viewer to look deeper. The subject's eyes are the focal point, drawing you in with their intensity. I deliberately used thick, textured brushstrokes to build up the skin tones, creating a sense of depth and tactility that contrasts with the smoothness of the eyes.
The title, "She Peeks Through," alludes to the way the subject seems to emerge from the canvas, as if she's revealing herself to the world. It's a metaphor for how we all present ourselves, choosing what to show and what to hide.
This piece is my statement on beauty - it's not about perfection, but about the raw, unfiltered essence of a person. It's in the imperfections, the asymmetry, and the honesty of expression that true beauty lies.
I'm excited to share "She Peeks Through" as part of this online exhibition. It's a reminder that beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder, and sometimes, all it takes is a single glance to see it.
